After moving to New York, Mr. Pilates worked with many professional dancers, refining their body control to hone their craft. Today, many professional athletes practice Pilates to enhance their performance. And the benefits aren't just for the elite! Anyone can experience an improved ease to everyday movements through regular practice.

Pilates is a method of exercise created by Joseph Pilates developed to increase strength, flexibility and overall health. Its mind-body approach aims to promote body control through a diverse range of exercises. In fact, Pilates referred to his system as “Contrology” to emphasize this aspect. Much of the equipment utilizes spring resistance to encourage muscle development and enhanced control.

In addition to reformer Pilates and mat Pilates, I utilize the full range of apparatus. This “Pilates playground” consists of the reformer, mat, cadillac, chairs, barrels and more! I design workouts to help you with your goals.

A consistent practice improves posture and balance, leading to increased joint mobility and stability, and reducing the risk of falls. The spring-based resistance training bolsters muscle tone and bone density, which becomes even more important as we age. The method was designed to help balance asymmetries in the body and promote mental and physical health.

We firmly believe that Pilates is beneficial for individuals of all fitness levels. Whether you're just starting your fitness journey or looking to take your performance to the next level, Pilates can enhance your overall well-being. It's always best to check with your healthcare provider before starting any new exercise regime.

Please note, you should never encounter acute pain or pinching during your practice. If you do experience discomfort, please promptly advise your teacher. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities.

Opt for comfortable clothes that allow you to move easily. Avoid excessively baggy clothing as it may impede your movement or prevent accurate assessment.

I recommend bare feet while practicing to enhance body awareness. Our feet are the foundation for our bodies. For your convenience, I have wipes on hand to freshen up before you enter the studio. Grip socks are also acceptable.

Ideally, aim for a minimum of 1-3 sessions per week, and for those with more experience or seeking quicker progress, consider incorporating Pilates into your daily routine at home. For highly active individuals, Pilates 1-2 times per week serves as excellent cross-training.

Above all, prioritize consistency, as our bodies thrive on movement!

For anyone new to Pilates, I require a minimum of 3 private sessions before attending semi-private sessions. Once you're confident with the exercises and equipment, I encourage you to explore semi-privates to compliment your practice.

My primary objective is to provide each student with personalized instruction. For those interested in a social atmosphere, consider semi-privates with a friend or two. This gives you more accountability and community, while still maintaining a workout tailored to your needs.

You can cancel any session without incurring a penalty by doing so at least 24 hours before the scheduled time. Cancellations can be made via the Pocketsuite app or the session confirmation link. Sessions canceled within the 24-hour window will be forfeited by the client.
